For the past four weeks I’ve been on the road and traveling. It was a fun four weeks with friends and family, but it was also a bit draining by the end of it! I try to maintain my healthy lifestyle when I travel, but I admit it can be tough sometimes to eat right and make time for fitness. So when I got back to Atlanta I decided to buy an entire grocery cart full of fresh fruits and vegetables to juice every day for a week.
Juicing fresh fruits and vegetables is a great way to get an instant boost of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients in a concentrated form. After traveling I always juice for a few days to “reset” my body, and I always end up feeling light, clean and healthy again afterwards!
This recipe was one of my favorites that I created from this past week. I call it, the “Green Health Elixir!”
The secret ingredients of this recipe are definitely the fresh lemon and ginger root. You only need a tiny amount (ESPECIALLY with the ginger root), but it makes this green juice taste so light and refreshing!
Pushing the “reset” button after traveling can be hard sometimes, which is why I rely on juice recipes like the one above to get myself back on track. Jumping right back into my normal workout routine and sleeping A LOT my first few nights back are two other tricks I use to “reset” from traveling. Even if all I can manage is a light/moderate workout at the gym, I still like to do something when I get back. Last but not least, is sleep. My first 3-4 days back I plan on getting at least 10-12 hours of rest a night (I know, I’m ridiculous, but it feels great!)
After a whole week of the routine above I find myself feeling just like my usual, healthy, and energized self. If you don’t have access to a juicing machine, you can always take the ingredients above and make them into a smoothie or big salad! Any way you can think of to get extra greens in you will go a long way to making you feel good again.

- 1 cup of pineapple (fresh or frozen)
- 4 cups of kale
- 4 cups of spinach
- 5-6 long sticks of celery
- 1 large cucumber
- 3-4 medium carrots
- Half a peeled lemon
- 1-2 centimeters of fresh ginger root
- Simply prep the fruit and veggies (chop things into appropriate sizes to fit through your juicing machine) and feed it through one by one!
